Become a Community Volunteer

Community volunteers work within a team of staff & other volunteers to help us distribute food to Community partners and Schools throughout New South Wales & the ACT.

Join the team

There are an array of roles on offer within the community volunteer space. Please be sure to read our FAQ below and then complete an application to let us know of your interest.

Please note: we are very mindful that volunteers are volunteering and that they come and go as and when they can. We do also need to try and have a schedule and roster of sorts, so we know who to expect and when/where we need further support.

Volunteers FAQs

  • Warehouse volunteers – we have a need each weekday – you can do one off’s or have a regularity to your frequency, but we limit involvement to 3 days a week.
  • Deliveries – we have a need for 1-2 days per week (reach out to learn what days of the week we are currently in need of)
  • Office Volunteering – the need is much more sporadic – often we do call outs
  • Our community volunteer shifts run Monday to Friday, 8am–2pm at our Western Sydney warehouse in Glendenning. While we’re usually closed on weekends, we occasionally call for extra hands to pack emergency hampers when urgent needs arise.

All volunteering is located at our Glendenning distribution centre, 50 Owen Street, Glendenning NSW

Glendenning location not suitable for you?

May I suggest checking out Seek Volunteer or Centre for Volunteering NSW  or ACT that may help you find other opportunities closer to you.

    • Volunteers are welcome to park in spaces marked VISITOR, to the right of our car entry gate.
    • There is also a large amount of free, un-timed parking on Owen Street in front of our site.
    • Please be mindful of our neighbours and do not block their access or park on their sites.
    • Wear comfortable casual clothes suitable for the warehouse (eg; activewear, t-shirt, shorts or leggings)
    • Arrive wearing flat, fully enclosed, rubber-soled shoes (eg; running shoes)

The minimum age for volunteers is 15 years

If you are under the age of 15 years or are unable to lift heavy items, we welcome you to support Foodbank by fundraising or hosting a food drive.

    • Instant coffee, tea and filtered drinking water are available in our breakroom. There are fridges, microwaves, and toasters available for volunteers to use.
    • Coffee and food are available for volunteers to purchase from local cafés, one is located directly across the street from our site. Our warehouse is also visited by mobile coffee vans and canteens at set times during the day.
